Are you ready to test your cybersecurity skills? The Hampton Roads Women in Technology group is hosting a Cybersecurity Capture the Flag competition for middle and high school girls. Girls will work in teams of three (they can pick their own or will be assigned) on clues to cybersecurity related challenge questions. They will need to research (Google) the topic and then solve the challenges which are worth a variety of points. The teams that come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will receive prizes for their accomplishments! Shannon Brill, a real FBI agent, will kick off the event as our keynote speaker!
Schedule:
8–9 a.m. – Student drop-off, equipment setup, light snacks will be provided.
9–9:30 a.m. – Welcoming Remark – Keynote Speaker – Special Agent Shannon Brill from FBI and contest instructions.
9:30 a.m.–noon – Contest begins - Online Capture the Flag competition.
Noon–12:45 p.m. – Lunch and Answer Key Review (boxed lunches are provided free of charge, thanks to our sponsors)
12:45 p.m. – Awards – Parents may attend.
1–1:15 p.m. – Student pick-up/dismissal.

Shannon Brill Bio:
Special Agent Shannon Brill entered on duty with the FBI in 2009. SA Brill was initially assigned to the Miami, FL Field Division and investigated a wide variety of crimes, to include violent crimes involving gangs and drugs. Now, currently assigned to the Norfolk Field Office, SA Brill specializes in complex cyber fraud investigations, where losses exceed over $100,000. SA Brill is a member of the FBI's Tidewater Hi-Tech Criminal Enterprise Task Force that is committed to mitigating local and transnational organized crime groups involved in cyber financial fraud schemes that include Business Email Compromise, work from home scams and romance scams.
