G.I.R.L. 2020

Would you like to be a Girl Scout National Delegate and represent GSCCC at the Girl Scout National Council Session being held in October 21-25, 2020? We’re looking for nominations now! It is open to any GSCCC Girl Scout member who is 14 years of age or over by March 26, 2020. A full slate of delegates and alternates will be presented by the GSCCC Board Development Committee for election on March 26, 2020, at the Board of Directors meeting.

If you are interested in applying, please read over the National Delegate position description and apply by clicking here. Applicants may be asked to participate in an interview, either electronically or in-person at A Place for Girls. The application submission deadline is November 30, 2019.

National Internship Opportunity for Girl Scouts in Grades 8-10

G.I.R.L. 2020 will be planned over the course of two years by a group of 25 Girl Scouts known as the G-TEAM (girls together empowering and mobilizing). Members ("interns") will guide the overall direction of the Orlando event and have chances to participate in field-specific internships in areas such as marketing, event production, governance, and logistics. In-person planning sessions will take place in Orlando, Florida, and New York City, with all expenses paid by Girl Scouts of the USA. At the event in 2020, the G-TEAM will serve as leaders both behind the scenes and on the stage.

All Girl Scouts currently in grades 8-10 are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted from October 19 to November 19, 2018, at 12 a.m. ET.

Registrants will receive an email with a link to register for the webinar after completing registration through eBiz.

Delegate Chair training is required for all service unit Delegate Chairs to prepare for their role as voting members of the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast. This training will include an explanation of the delegate job description, information on topics that will require a vote at Annual Council Meeting, an overview of Robert’s Rules of Order, State of the Council report, as well as an overview of National Convention.

National Delegate Registration

Every three years, national delegates representing each council in GSUSA gather for the National Convention and conduct business at the National Council Meeting.

Wednesday-Sunday, Oct. 4-8, 2017
Columbus, Ohio

National delegate responsibilities:
  • Attend all local orientation and preparation meetings prior to the National Convention.
  • Study the National Council Meeting agenda.
  • Understand Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast’s stance on actions to be taken by the National Council (delegates may vote independently, based on the best interests of Girl Scouting as a whole).
