Early Renewal

April 1st will be here before we know it which means it is time for early renewal! It also means it is time to announce this year’s Early Renewal Incentives.

Do your girls get excited about patches? That’s a silly question, of course they do!
All girls who renew their membership during Early Renewal will receive a 2019 early bird patch.

In addition to the 2019 early bird patch, girls who renew on April 1st will receive a special GSCCC 1st Day Patch designed by Ella Dow, a GSCCC Daisy in Troop 1422. Click here to see Ella’s design.

Patches aren’t the only cool things we are giving away this year, so be sure to check out the entire list of incentives!

Swim Watcher

Did you know that one adult swim watcher is needed for every ten swimmers? If you and your girls are planning a swimming activity, you will need to make sure you have swim watchers present. The swim watcher assists the group by watching for possible emergencies and does not enter the water unless instructed by the lifeguard. Swim watchers do not replace the need for lifeguards, but they assist the lifeguard. The lifeguard and swim watchers are stationed at separate posts and watch the water.

Swim watcher online training is required for anyone who will be a swim watcher. You can access this training on the Learning Opportunities page of our website. In addition, swim watchers must be registered and background checked as they are part of the troop committee working with girls. Take the survey and you will receive credit for this training.

Next GSCCC Destination? Iceland!

The next GSCCC Destinations trip has been selected. We are off to Iceland!

Experience stunning fjords and breathtaking waterfalls, then travel to a red mountain where mud boils and steam flows out of the earth. Journey through the Dimmuborgir lava formations, which some believe are trolls exposed to the sun, then walk along the gap separating two tectonic plates. This adventurous trip is not for the faint-of-heart or weak-of-limb; it will keep you moving, climbing, and hiking—and constantly questioning how your surroundings can possibly be real.
