- The committee offers mentors for any girl who asks for one, as well as assigning one when the committee feels that the Girl Scout will benefit from having a mentor. A mentor from the committee is not a project adviser. The mentor will help the Girl Scout through the proposal phase of the project.
- Mini mentoring Q & A sessions with Gold Award Committee Members. These sessions will be set up before or after regularly scheduled interview/review dates. Girls can email the Gold Award Committee at gsgoldaward.gsccc@gmail.com to request a timeslot. These sessions are for girls to come and discuss project ideas, get answers to their questions or to receive assistance in finding a project idea if she is struggling. These sessions are informal but require that the Girl Scout has attended a Go Gold Workshop so she has the basic knowledge of Going for Gold. The next date is Saturday, November 2, 2019, in Virginia Beach.
- Girls and adults can receive answers quickly and directly from the committee by emailing gsgoldaward.gsccc@gmail.com.
The committee is looking for additional members. Do you have an interest in helping girls achieve their goal of earning the Girl Scout Gold Award? Please email the committee at gsgoldaward.gsccc@gmail.com to set up a phone conversation and find out about qualifications, time commitment and duties of being a Gold Award Committee member.
As a reminder, Girl Scouts Going for Gold must seek approval from the Council philanthropy director prior to setting up money-earning activity or asking for any in-kind donation. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the Colonial Coast Gold Award Committee at gsgoldaward.gsccc@gmail.com.
