Girls will dive into coastal science with a day of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Girls will learn and interact with local women scientists who are solving global problems facing the world’s coastlines right here in our own backyard.
Discover how scientists use drones and lasers to map our 3D world as it changes during storms. Learn about technology that allows researchers to listen to whales, dolphins and other marine life to study their behavior. Explore our coastal ecosystem and identify human impacts on wildlife and the environment in which we live. Indoor and outdoor activities will be available as girls are introduced to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities while learning about coastal science on the beautiful barrier islands of the Outer Banks. Emphasis will be placed on introducing girls to careers in STEAM and providing girls opportunities to ask instructors about their backgrounds and how they landed their current jobs.
This is a girl event. One adult may be asked to stay with troop to meet ratios but does not pay.
