Camp Training

Camping is a great way for girls to explore leadership, build skills and develop a deep appreciation for nature. Whether for a day, a week or longer, Girl Scout camp gives girls an opportunity to grow, explore and have fun under the guidance of caring, trained volunteers.

Are your girls ready to go camping, but you are not sure what training you need to go? GSCCC offers four levels of camp training: Outdoor I, II, II and IV. As with all things in Girl Scouts, camp training is completed in a progression - start with Outdoor I and work your way up to Outdoor IV (review the Outdoor Progression Webinar recording).

Below you will find the camp trainings that we offer and what you will be able to do after successfully completing each one:

  1. Outdoor I: Cabin Camping - upon completion of this course, volunteers will be able to take their girls cabin camping and cook using propane and charcoal.
  2. Outdoor II: Basic Troop Camping - upon completion of this course, volunteers will be able to take their girls camping and sleep in tents or hammocks, use propane and charcoal for cooking, and have a ceremonial campfire using wood. In addition, you will be able to roast marshmallows over the campfire.
  3. Outdoor III: Advanced Camping - upon completion of this course, volunteers will be able to share advanced cooking methods, program and outdoor skills with their girls.
  4. Outdoor IV: Backpacking - upon completion of this course, volunteers will be able to take their girls on backpacking trips.

Find out when these courses are offered by visiting our Learning Opportunities webpage.
