Nominate a Deserving Girl Scout for the Buck Harris Award

The Buck Harris Award was established upon the retirement of Buck Harris, a former executive director of the Virginia Tidewater Girl Scout Council. Buck dedicated her life to providing the finest in camping and outdoor education programs.

This award is presented at the Annual Council Meeting each year to one Girl Scout who has made a difference in troop meetings, service unit events and/or Council events during the past two years. She will receive a framed certificate and a certificate towards attending a GSCCC-sponsored summer camp.

To qualify for the award, a girl must be nominated by the girls in her troop, group or service unit, or by an adult who is aware of her qualifications. As girls decide on their nominee, help them understand this is more than a popularity contest.

Nomination forms can be found here on the GSCCC website. Email completed nominations to customercare@gsccc.org by Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Next GSCCC Destination? Iceland!

The next GSCCC Destinations trip has been selected. We are off to Iceland!

Experience stunning fjords and breathtaking waterfalls, then travel to a red mountain where mud boils and steam flows out of the earth. Journey through the Dimmuborgir lava formations, which some believe are trolls exposed to the sun, then walk along the gap separating two tectonic plates. This adventurous trip is not for the faint-of-heart or weak-of-limb; it will keep you moving, climbing, and hiking—and constantly questioning how your surroundings can possibly be real.
