Volunteer of Excellence Award Nominations

The deadline is approaching to nominate an awesome volunteer for the Volunteer of Excellence Award. The deadline is just a few days away - Friday, May 31, 2019!

Nominate an exceptional volunteer by completing the nomination form and submit it along with at least two Letters of Endorsement (max of five) to customercare@gsccc.org no later than Friday, May 31, 2019.

Volunteer of Excellence Award Nominations


Volunteers do amazing things, and they go beyond the expectations of their position. The Volunteer of Excellence Award recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while collaborating directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience by using the National Program Portfolio or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the Council's mission delivery to girl and adult members.

Take a few minutes and nominate an awesome volunteer for the Volunteer of Excellence Award. Examples of a deserving volunteer are as follows:

Portsmouth Community Parade

Girl Scout Ranger Program

The National Park Service has a Girl Scout Ranger Program! Click here for more information if your troop is interested in earning the patch at the national park sites in the Outer Banks (Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers National Monument and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site).

Dames at Sea

The Battleship Wisconsin overnight program is proud to invite Girl Scouts to a special "girls only" evening aboard the battleship with overnight and "Dames at Sea" show included! Tickets for the show will be included at a 50 percent discount from regular price, one night only, only Saturday, July 20, 2019! The price per camper is $80, which includes the show, private guided tour of the ship and a full breakfast in the morning. We must have a minimum of 40 participants for the event to run.

Memorial Day Closure

All GSCCC offices and shops will be closed Monday, May 27, 2019, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Regular office and shop hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

Chesapeake shop:
Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Chesapeake shop location will resume Saturday hours until the second Saturday in June, on June 8, 2019.

Peninsula shop:
Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
(Closed daily 1-2 p.m.)

Host Families Needed for French Student Exchange

The Toulon, France Sister City Committee is looking for host families for this summer's inbound exchange. If you have a daughter studying French between the ages of 15-18 and would like to be a host family, please review the Student Host Family Profile Form and Application, and the Toulon Youth Exchange Fact Sheet. This is a great experience and your child will be given priority for next summer's outbound exchange.

Community Award

Now is a great time to recognize an organization (the school or church where your troop met, a venue for an event, or a cookie booth location) or an individual in the community who has supported Girl Scouting over the past year. Nominators will receive a Community Award certificate signed by the CEO that they can present to the organization or individual. Complete the Community Award survey to request a signed certificate be mailed to you. Please allow up to four weeks from the request date to receive the certificate.
