Camp Fury Volunteers

If you haven’t heard about Camp Fury…you will. This popular week-long program started in Hampton and has expanded this summer to Chesapeake and Norfolk as well. Side-by-side with local fire and rescue squad personnel, girls complete and compete in hands-on learning activities that challenge them both mentally and physically. We want you to be a part of this successful program.  We are in need of volunteers to assist with transportation (Council vehicles provided), supervision, and encouragement for our campers while they are enjoying this program.  There are even activities for you to join in!

We are seeking four volunteers (first come, first served) for each Camp Fury session.
  • Norfolk:  6/26-6/30 - depart Camp Apasus (Norfolk)
  • Hampton: 7/16-7/21 - depart Camp Skimino (Williamsburg)
  • Chesapeake: 8/7-8/11 - depart Camp Outback (Chesapeake)

Volunteers must be over the age of 18, be a registered member of GSUSA, and successfully complete a background check. Camp Fury-Hampton volunteers may wish to reside overnight (housing and meals provided) at Camp Skimino during the week-long session but are not required to do so.

Volunteers who wish to be a driver must have a valid driver’s license, at least five years of driving experience, and meet the Council insurance company’s requirement for coverage.

If you would like to learn more about becoming a Camp Fury volunteer, contact Tesi Strickland, Outdoor Adventures Manager, at tesis@gsccc.org or call 757-410-0713.
